To hear Miss Bongi speak with our students about the poverty, the sadness and the need at Intumbane and many other places has been wonderful to witness. This week we have seen our students grow in their understanding of the reality of the world beyond their own backyard. A name of a school has become real for our students and we celebrate the learning and the opportunities of this week with all students. Our sadness is that this week is only one week, yet we are confident that Miss Bongi will return in the future.
Our community has again rallied with over 250 books donated to the Intumbane library. We are delighted to be able to ensure students in Intumbane have access to quality literature. Our ongoing fundraising for Intumbane, which includes both the annual Disco and Slipper Day, allows us to support the employment of a Values Based Educator to teach children about vital areas such as HIV, domestic abuse and personal safety. I am thrilled that our community is supporting this vital area.
We give thanks for this week, for the connection with Miss Bongi and Intumbane School and look forward to an ongoing mutually beneficial association with our sister school.
