Life through Christ

Why choose this Christian School?

As a distinctly Christian school, we believe that every single person has been individually crafted by God with unique and wonderful personalities and talents, we are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ (Psalm 139). The God who made us values us so much that He would do anything to keep us in a right relationship with Him. And so, the heart of the Christian message is that despite us not honouring Him, God became one of us in the person of Jesus to bring us back into that good and right relationship. We proclaim, ‘Life Through Christ’, because trust in Jesus Christ means we have life and live in abundance (John 10:10).

If the Christian message is true, if God is, the creator of all things including us, Christians ought to desire a right understanding of the universe we live in. We value every single student who enters our classrooms, motivating them to achieve their potential with a clear understanding of who they are in God’s world, and giving thanks to God for the privilege of partnering in their educational journey. We pursue excellence in education, seek knowledge wherever it is found, and strive for truth, because in doing so, we understand God’s creation better, and bring Him the glory that is His due.

We strive to instil in our students a strong foundation in wellbeing through a whole-school focus on gratitude, empathy, mindfulness, and spiritual growth. We encourage gratitude, recognising that when expressed, it brings joy. We foster empathy by guiding students to put themselves in others’ shoes, developing kindness and understanding. We promote mindfulness, encouraging thoughtful reflection on how they can improve and grow. Above all, we nurture a spiritual focus, teaching students to trust in God as they navigate life’s challenges and opportunities. Through these values, we aim to equip our students with the resilience, compassion, and wisdom needed for their journey at St Peter’s and beyond.

Our school follows a restorative justice system.

Students are taught the process to resolve conflict and restore relationships through the Rungs of Restoration. This is displayed in every classroom and taught explicitly at the beginning of the school year. Teachers facilitate this, however older students are encouraged to follow these steps independently.

The steps are:

  1. Be Honest – think to yourself what you have done in this situation and/or mistakes you have made.
Ephesians 4:15 – speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up to be like Christ.
  2. Be Brave – speak the truth about your part.
Joshua 1:9 –Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
  3. Be Forgiving – seek forgiveness with an apology that is sincere and a determination to do better. Forgive the other person for their part in this situation.
Romans 14:19 – So let us do all we can to live in peace. And let us work hard to build each other up.
Colossians 3:13 –  “Forgive one another as the Lord forgave you.”
  4. Be Kind – be intentional about acts of kindness to show ongoing unity.
Ephesians 4:32 –  Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.
