St Peter’s Heart is a Kindergarten to Year 6 school for students diagnosed with moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or moderate Intellectual Disability.
St Peter’s Heart is located on the grounds of St Peter’s Anglican Grammar. Initially, the school is utilising the Whitehouse which is a heritage building with adequate space for classrooms, office, clinic, and toilet facilities. There is a quiet playground space for St Peter’s Heart students and also has access to shared playground and learning spaces.
All students at St Peter’s Heart have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) developed in consultation with parents or caregivers. The IEPs set short and long term learning goals for each student and outline strategies that will assist in achieving these goals.
One of the key aspects of ‘two schools - one learning community’ is the possibility of integration between St Peter’s Anglican Grammar and St Peter’s Heart, creating a diverse educational community which greatly enhances whole life learning. Student integration will be supported by our learning enhancement staff on a case-by-case basis where it is appropriate and beneficial for students.
